Anmerkungen
Johann Peter3 Rockenfeller was born in 1682 in Wied, Germany. He died about December 06, 1763 in Rocktown, Hunterdon County, New Jersey. He first married Anna Maria Remagen(born 1684 and died 1719) They had six children. His second marriage was to Elizabeth Christina Runkel on October 29, 1720 she was born in Bonfeld, Germany.
He immigrated to the United States in 1723 and brought with him his wife and Johann Peter, Jr., Anne Christina, Johannes, Maria Eva and Catherine. The ship on which he came to America, intending to land at New York Harbor, but the adverse or very heavy Northeast winds drove them South and they landed at Philadelphia, PA. From Philadelphia they started to go overland to the Hudson River and to East Camp, NY but on the way many of them found the land of West New Jersey so well suited for farming they settled in Hunterdon County. Johann Peter Rockenfeller passed on to Somerville.
After his arrival he leased a farm near Somerville, New Jersey, for six years. In 1730, soon after moving to Amwell, Johann Peter and his two sons took out naturalization papers. He then purchased a farm in Rocktown, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, where he lived for the rest of his life.
