Built "Ardrossan" 144 (now ?94) Mitchell St, Brunswick with money from his father who left each of his children 500 pounds. He was a policeman stationed at Coburg Police Station; "Const 4944 Brunswick" from death certificate of Caroline de Whan. From Discharge Certificate: was a Constable in the Vic. Police from 4th June 1901-31st July 1913 After leaving the police force, he had a farm at Linga in the Mallee. He worked as a gardener at CEGGS Melbourne after selling the farm. Aged 69 at death; information from Jean Roberta Liston, 24 Jan 1993. Death Certificate 5018 1944; place of death Prince Henry's Hospital, South Melbourne. Statement of account from Prince Henry's indicates that he had been living at 255 Bourke Rd Glen Iris SE6. He was charged 2 guineas for his time as a patient of Prince Henry's from 6/5/44-20/5/44.
Vic. Births Record #25900 Birth certificate shows Mrs Slater as the nurse certifying the birth - presumably the mother of Agnes.
