SCHUYLER DINGMAN, AN OLD RESIDENT OF MORRISON COUNTY, DIES AT SOLDIERS, HOME
Schuyler Dingman, an old and respected citizen of Morrison county, expired at the Soldiers' home at the ripe age of 74 years, Mr. Dingman was born in Oower, Canada, in the year 1832 and came to the United States when a lad about 6 years of age, settling in Illinois. He lived there until he reached manhood's estate and was on his way to a visit to his old home in Canada in 1862, and when passing through Michigan was smitten by war fever, and enlisted in the Twenty-second Michigan volunteer infantry, with which regiment he remained during the civil war. At the close of the war he returned to his old home in Illinois and came to Minnesota in 1874, settling in Morrison county, Swan River town, where he lived until about five years ago. He was married to Mrs. Mary Bates in 1881 in this city. Mr. Dingman remained on his original farm until forced by advancing age to give up active life and for the past five years has been residing at the Lambert place, a short distance northwest of the city. He left there for the Soldiers' Home about June 1, and resided there until his death. Mr. Dingman was a member of he Workman post of the G.A.R. and was well liked by all who knew him. He has been ;in poor health for a long time, being taken with Bright's disease during the winter and also suffered the amputation of a limb later on. His death was due to the ravages of his old complaint and old age. The deceased leaves to mourn his loss, a wife, and brother, Solomon Dingman, residing in Oregon, and a brother-in-law, Wm. Kay, residing in this city. The remains arrived in the city on the noon train. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Methodist church, Interment in Oakland cemetery.
