Il fut officier des régiments de hussards de Soumsko et Narva et il fut un musicien amateur.
1911, il épousa la princesse Maria Nikolaïevna Chtcherbatov.
1911, il hérita de son père Alexandre Fiodorovitch la partie nord-est du (voir en russe, domaine Iaropolets) près de Volokolamsk.
1917, après la révolution d'Octobre, le domaine fut nationalisé.
Il fut en exil en France.
1965, il mourut à Paris sous le président de la République française Charles de Gaulle.
